Good News for All Nations

The power and wisdom of God are revealed in the proclamation of the Messiah who was crucified to save the World . Jesus performed miracles and taught with great authority, and for a time, he attracted large crowds. But his contemporaries failed to recognize who he was despite his displays of supernatural power. Only the Roman centurion at Golgotha perceived that the Nazarene was God’s Son when Jesus breathed his last.

Jesus proclaimed a new political reality, the Kingdom of God, which bears little resemblance to the political systems and regimes of this age . Jesus appeared in Galilee proclaiming the Kingdom of God – “ Repent, for the kingdom is at hand .” The Kingdom promised by God was arriving in Christ’s life and ministry. He is the Messiah and King of Israel who summons all men to turn from their wicked ways and submit to his lordship while the opportunity remains.

Christ’s allegiance to his Father produced his uncompromising obedience, even if it meant death on a Roman cross . Jesus calls us to enter “ by the narrow gate. Broad is the way that leads to destruction .” Or to change the metaphor, “ Deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow me .” The way to God’s kingdom includes our obedience as we follow the example of the Servant of the Lord - (Matthew 7:13, 16:24).
